SPUR Member Spotlight – Megan Tsui
Megan Tsui is the director of the Northfield Enterprise Center (NEC), a non-profit that offers one-on-one coaching and consulting to small businesses in the Northfield community. She states, “When the NEC began discussing the possibility of SPUR, I had no idea how much I would personally benefit…although we have interns and work study students, I often found myself alone in my office. I felt isolated and often times wished I had a few coworkers to chat with.” The NEC has now moved into the SPUR location, and has been on Division Street for just over a month. With this new location, members can stop in, even if Megan is not present, and still be greeted by friendly faces. There are multiple interns and work study students that are available to help the members in any way they can. This not only takes some weight off of Megan’s shoulders, but also gives them the opportunity to get a glimpse of the small business world, and see just how hard these people work for their community.
Megan has worked with entrepreneurs and small business owners for over twelve years, and loves that Northfield is committed to helping new businesses grow. “Those of us that grew up in Northfield or that have lived here for any length of time believe that Northfield is a special place. In terms of supporting small businesses, Northfield really is special. I know of no other community the size of Northfield in our Region that offers free business coaching and consulting. We have the Northfield EDA to thank for continuously supporting the NEC for the past ten years. I love that I can find connections between coworkers and other businesses in our community. But most of all, I love having people around to laugh with, celebrate successes with, and bounce ideas off of. It’s been a very fun month at SPUR, and we can’t wait to add even more coworkers to our community.”
