The Value in Seasonal Greetings
Every Christmas season my insurance agent sends out a greeting card. I like that. It is a plus that his cards are lovely and I pin them on the wall near my desk. Last year it was a cardinal in the snow. I love cardinals so much that it is still on my wall. Clever guy. He budgeted in a dollar per client to have many of us thinking of him, however fleetingly, several times a week. Those small thoughts are a connection to Rob and his business.
Christmas and New Year provide an opportunity to make a simple, personal gesture to our employees and clients that is appropriate and valuable. It is easy to do during the holidays not just as a marketing tool, but as a symbolic acknowledgement to our colleagues and clients we are grateful to them, that we care. Everybody likes to be recognized.
So, if it is an employee year end bonus, a customer discount, or a card with a cardinal on a snowy pine bough, a nod of appreciation to those that helped to get us this far can reap returns. And that is a worthy expense to budget in.
